Celebrating the 113th Birthday of Adam Clayton Powell Jr November 29, 1908

Today, we should all salute and honor the greatest of our congressional black representatives, some even say he was the greatest congressional legislator who ever lived no matter his/her skin color, Dr. Adam Clayton Powell Jr. The Black Blogger starts off by going back to a winter's day in 1955 when Representative Powell spoke before the 84th Congress and spoke about his hope of the passage of Civil Rights legislation.​ He took to task the entire Legislative Branch of Government for the inaction related to African Americans securing civil rights.

The Voices From The Movement Freedom Schools 1965

Especially for my followers and friends this Thanksgiving weekend. I am reading aloud from a collection of poems created by our now elders and ancestors who attended the Freedom Schools that were created during the civil rights movement in 1965. The collection of poems is so powerful, so revealing and attest to the self-determination of these then young Americans of African descent to rise above their circumstances of life to battle for what is rightfully theirs absolute citizenship.

Stop Blowing Through The Whirlwinds

Maybe if the young black men in our communities across this nation who kill and maim their own brothers understood Marcus Garvey. They wouldn’t be out there snuffing out the whirlwinds Marcus Garvey’s spirit is residing in. We as a human race can’t kill our own and expect a momentous victory against those who oppress us. We were ill’ing, never chilling so black brothers stop all this damn killing.
