Reflecting On Dr. King's 93rd Birthday

As we come up to tomorrow's 93rd birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I still believe that now, more than ever we must locate and discover Dr. King's beloved community of humanity. The planet is trying to tell us something for far too long so many of us have refused to acknowledge the brevity of the planet's call.

  • For those of us who don't believe in a higher force try to explain to me the beauty of a hummingbird's flight, flights that defy all of science, and say it isn't an act of something higher than God's work?

  • Try to explain to me how a woman, Harriet Tubman, could face the ravages of enslavement and become the guidepost for those seeking freedom for nearly two hundred years?

  • Try to explain to me how Malcolm Little could bloom into Malcolm X without the power of a force higher than simply one man's determination?

  • Try to explain to me how a 26-year-old Baptist minister, Martin Luther King Jr. educated in a series of great northeastern universities could end up in a southern city at exactly the right time to forge a bus boycott movement that changed the course of civil rights in this nation, and the world?

  • Or explain to me how on each of our shoulders rest an instrument that is capable of solving all the problems in the world. Who do you think placed that instrument there is no God?

That is why no matter the difficulties, or barriers you may face today, and possibly tomorrow. You must know that God has a plan for you. You need simply to modify the way you think, modify the way you accept information, and stop allowing those negative influences around to cause you to doubt yourself. Your mind has been developed by God to accept his guidance but you have allowed the systems to be corrupted. Uncorrupted, we easily would make the hard decisions easy and the solutions would be unveiled. Corrupted, easy decisions become impossible and hard decisions aren't even considered. So don't get down on yourself get up on the possibilities of possible change. Today is the day when you can be the person you want to become just believe in your possibilities!

We can indeed discover that beloved community that Dr. King envisioned because that beloved community resides in each of us together, united in love. We must ensure that our black and brown children aren't left behind. Because right now many of them are in the danger zone without a clear path out.

The Black Blogger & Zora Neale Hurston Provoked Thoughts

"The great American History illusion or American lie is the fact that American History includes all the words and stories of sellers yet the illusion or lie of American History is the absence and disappearance of words and stories of the sold. That exclusion adds so much racial delusion and to people's historical confusion."

42 Million Isn't Acceptable

Last night Monday, January 2, 2022, over 42 million Americans went to bed “hungry”, and malnourished. That figure should be unacceptable for any level of acceptance by Americans who are nourished and fully fed. In a nation where 1% of the nation’s population controlled about $41.52 trillion in the first quarter of 2021, there should be more of a concerted effort of wealth redistribution to balance the scales of American society. America was built during a period of a flourishing white middle class but even those in the middle white class have seen their wealth deprecate over the past generation, especially after the 8 years of Reagan economics where the “trickle-down formula became a rushing up formula” for the super-rich. When the average net worth of that 1% is 11.1 million and where it’s now necessary to earn an average of $758,434.00 per year to join this elite status. There is certainly a level of greed and hoarding that exists amongst this group of individuals. The attitude that I got mine and now you get yours certainly does exist with many of these 1%’ers. When 50% of American Households have 15X less total wealth than the Top 1% total combined wealth then the need for a strategic wealth redistribution being necessary is undeniable. This pandemic has revealed the economic disparities that exist between the have’s and hand not’s because while trillions of dollars have flowed into the pockets of the hands' multiple trickles have caused the dam to break dollars for the pockets of the have nots. America, Americans both white and black cannot continue to dream a dream of escaping the lower rungs of economic classifications because with each passing day that dream of economic prosperity is evaporating away. What is the answer to America’s dilemma of wealth inequality? I cannot envision the wealth holders happily giving away wealth and balancing the economic scales that have fed this imbalance for every year America has existed. Nor does it look like the evaporating middle class will never stop looking sideways at the harm this economic disparity has caused this nation. Knowing that 42 million Americans when to sleep hungry and malnourished last night disturbs me. Knowing that so few Americans control so much personal wealth disturbs me. Knowing that Americans will seemingly never act on Martin Luther King Jr.’s biggest dream of wealth redistribution disturbs me. The fact that the solution of this nation’s myriad of negative impact issues related to wealth inequality is right in front of us but we simply are too brain conditioned to think that wealth inequality is an American virtue disturbs me as well. It’s hard to be creative and imaginative when that child’s belly button touches their child’s backbone. I wonder when 99% of Americans will decide that 1% of their population doesn’t have the right to control the scale of opportunities for the masses of Americans. When the dream of escaping abject poverty becomes unfathomable for the majority of Americans King's quest for economic redistribution must indeed become a reality.

Thank You

I Am With Antonio Brown Part 2

"No one will know just how brain-damaged Antonio Brown is until he is on that cold steel slab and his brain is dissected for evidence of CTE. That's the problem with professional football at that time of Mr. Brown's demise no fans will be in the autopsy room cheering on the results. You may jeer Mr. Brown today for his actions yesterday but not one of you walks in his shoes or truly understands his condition. Because many of those players(college and professional) with that potential condition don't even remember the exact collision or collisions that caused the condition.

I Am Cheering, Not Jeering Antonio Brown, How About You Brother?

To all those who ridiculed Antonio Brown yesterday especially black men. You all need to read William C. Rhoden's book 40 Million Slaves, you need to comprehend that these professional players are putting their ability to lead productive future lives on the line every week. Fans don't see it now playing out after the game crowd cheers end when players cannot get out of bed on Monday morning. Fans don't see it when retired players need all new joints just to walk up the stairs in their homes. Fans don't see it when former players cannot lift their children in their arms because of the damaged back injury incurred while fans cheered that player giving up his body to block an opponent. You don't see it when former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vince Jackson drank himself to death alone in a hotel room away from the cheers due to the brain injuries he unknowingly suffered playing the game while fans cheered him on. You didn't know how dangerous those in-game brain injuries were until you saw the violent actions of Aaron Hernandez, Jovan Belcher, and Phillip Adams. Were Rae Carruth's actions and decisions in 1999 impaired by Chronic traumatic encephalopathy? We won't know until Carruth's dead and his brain can be analyzed for damage. How much damage has been done by former players and even players that have been hidden from public view? So when Antonio Brown told the team's coaches that he wasn't healthy enough to play yesterday. Black fans especially shouldn't be jeering and castigating Antonio Brown they should be cheering him. Because when the cheering ends it's only going to be the loved ones and Antonio Brown himself taking care of the body that incurred those bodily injuries while you cheered him on.
