Eyes Wide Open Economic Power Superseded Civil Rights
Martin Luther King Jr. (4/3/1968) the night before his murder talking about applying economic pressures against those who dish civil, legal and economic injustice. People fail to understand that the radical KING is the King that is hidden from view in America. He, at the time of his murder, was against the war in Vietnam and was about to launch a massive plan to retrieve economic reparations for the black communities throughout this nation. Then boom, that plan was exploded on the balcony of at the Lorraine Motel when his body hit the concrete ground. You see even though the nation passed civil rights and voting rights bills. Many of our black community remain in severe economic calamity. What good is having civil and voting rights without any degree of black economic might? That my friends isn't at all right that's why we must continue Dr. King's final fight. The fight for economic wealth redistribution for a race of people totally neglected for the length of America’s democracy.
This is what King told that audience that night before he was murdered:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said “Tomorrow tell the neighbor, ‘Don’t buy Sealtest milk.’ Tell them ‘Don’t buy Coca-Cola in Memphis.’ Tell them ‘Don’t buy Wonder bread and Hart’s bread.’”—he said: “We don’t have to argue with anybody. We don’t have to curse and go around acting bad with our words. We don’t need any bricks and bottles. We don’t need any Molotov cocktails. We just need to go around to these stores, and to these massive industries in our country and say, ‘God sent us by here, to say to you that you’re not treating his children right. And we’ve come by here to ask you to make the first item on your agenda fair treatment, where God’s children are concerned. Now, if you are not prepared to do that, we do have an agenda that we must follow. And our agenda calls for withdrawing economic support from you.’
