The Voices From The Movement Freedom Schools 1965
Especially for my followers and friends this Thanksgiving weekend. I am reading aloud from a collection of poems created by our now elders and ancestors who attended the Freedom Schools that were created during the civil rights movement in 1965. The collection of poems is so powerful, so revealing and attest to the self-determination of these then young Americans of African descent to rise above their circumstances of life to battle for what is rightfully theirs absolute citizenship.
