Tragedy At Colfax Black America's Bloodied End To Freedom
On April 13, 1873, freedom died for the recently freed African Americans of the south. On this date 148 years ago Black Reconstruction experienced it deadly, murderous end in the town of Colfax situated in Grant Parish, Louisiana. Today I am reading from the ANGOLITE, a journal put together by prisoners at the Angolan State Prison, the November-December 1989 edition. this excerpt of the article describes in detail the events that occurred on Easter Sunday, 1873.
