April 12, 1864 The Fort Pillow Confederate Massacre
157 years ago General Nathan Bedford Forrest (The Father of the KKK) and his band of white southern stormtroopers lead an assault on Fort Pillow, Tennessee that was nothing less than a vile attack on humanity. It was simply an atrocity inflicted on African American Union soldiers. There should have at least been charges brought up for war crimes against the maniacal Forrest. Yet, he was allowed to live out his life in comfort after the Civil War and continue the hateful racist vindictiveness that lead to the founding of the KKK. Today, on I remember this forgotten event that occurred during the Civil War. It certainly isn't an event that appeared in history textbooks but it damn sure should have been taught.
