Question From Tonight’s Blackman Read Aloud Hour Project

THE SWORD AND THE SHIELD: THE REVOLUTIONARY LIVES OF MALCOLM X AND MARTIN LUTHER KING
Facebook Live

This is my historical question for tonight: If Martin Luther King Jr.had accepted the multiple overtures made by Malcolm X in the summer and fall of 1964 to join forces, or at least meet to strategize. Would that possible meeting made it more difficult for those in the NOI to conspire to murder him? I’m not saying that government wouldn’t have plotted but specifically the NOI. After today’s reading it really got me thinking about how an actual meeting between King and Malcolm would’ve changed the course of history. It seemed that unbeknownst to either both men were bending and blending to a similar goal.”

My concern is how the federal government would have reacted. This government is so anti Muslim I think the gains in freedom would have come at a much slower pace.
